Chapter II

Primary Solids are 3-dimensional forms that are created from basic primary shapes (square, circle, triangle). These are created by mirroring, extending and rotating these shapes and creating a form with volume.

Clustered forms are quite simple, they are regular and irregular forms that are grouped together and combined to create irregular and diverse forms. With clustered forms, the original shapes and forms are still distinguishable.

In design, many basic shapes are combined and connected to create more interesting forms. this can be done in many ways in which the shapes can both keep their original form, overpower one or more forms, or create a new form altogether.

A subtractive form is a way of creating a new and visually stimulating design, this is done when parts of a whole are subtracted to create new spaces. This focuses on negative space and emphasizes the overall form.

The centralized form uses a center point or structure in which the design follows. The centralized form is often the focal point as it interrupts the center of space. A plan follows the center form and is designed around that structure.

PHILOSOPHY

Design should reflect the lifestyle, taste, and values of each and every client. Every space should have meaning and purpose and be both collected and curated. Design is perfect when form meets function seamlessly, when it reflects the lifetime of stories waiting to be made, and a house becomes a home. Influences from travel, lifestyle, and fashion drive and inspire design that will not only meet but will exceed each and every expectation.

It is Done, It is Finished!

IN SUMMARY Throughout the course of this quarter, we delved into many fun and complex topics. we used a number of different activities and resources to explore the world of interior design and how it related and is based on the concepts of form, space, and order. Through various studies and activities, I was able to acquire great skills as a designer and immense insight into many sectors of the design process. Through the course projects, that we worked on throughout the quarter, I was able to learn about the process of conceptualizing a design. I developed skills that allow me to be able to take an inspiration, whatever it may be, and break it down into a Parti. Doing just that I was able to create a basis for the design of my children's pod. I wanted to create a space that was completely immersive and took these children to a new space, one that is solely for them. The design was refined, changed, and developed into the final pod, that is pictured below. I was selected ...
